WE GOT AN ELF!!!!

I hope you all had an AMAZING (and restful) Thanksgiving Break!

Oh my goodness is 1A an excited classroom today!! I walked in this morning to find an "Elf on the Shelf" sitting underneath my document camera!!! I didn't know much about the whole Elf thing but no worries there, the kids were beaming with excitment and shared all they could with me this morning! We read the book, learned the rules, and finally gave our Elf his Christmas MAGIC by naming him TINSEL! :) We put all of our ideas on the board & then Mrs. D came into to pick out the name!

I was told that TINSEL will report to Santa each night and then find a new spot in 1A. I will try to remember to take a picture of TINSEL hiding for everyone to see! :)

LOTS LOTS LOTS going on between now and Christmas break
so PLEASE keep up to date with our weekly letters! :)

Happy Wednesday :)

Happy Wednesday! I wanted to thank all the parents for coming to conferences last week. Please be sure to talk with your child about the positive comments and areas of improvements that we discussed. I want all the children to know what they are doing well and what they should be working on the next few months. Also, be sure to look over the "general conference notes" and practice the sight words too! If you have any further questions, comments or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. Since November is our only "planned" meeting time, contact me if you ever need to set up a meeting. I will do the same :)

One thing I wanted to stress that came up at conferences was the Grammar. As I told many of you, I want the children to focus on writing a good sentence (complete thought, capital letter and period). The rest of the topics are meant to be an introduction. Please review the weekly grammar skill with your child. Also, the writing (and spelling when writing) will eventually come. My focus right now is for your child to get their thoughts on paper and work on their reading! :)

This week, Ms. L & I are getting together our plan for our first "Thanksgiving MONDAY FUNDAY!" Aside from a brief Science test, we will be doing a variety of activities on Monday that center around Thanskgiving. We will also be preparing for Grandparent's Day. If your child WILL NOT be here next week, please let me know in advance so that he/she can take the Science test Friday. Also, grandparent permission slips will be sent home today in the Wednesday folders. Please turn the forms in by Friday! :)

If your child will be here for Grandparent's Day, but a grandparent can't attend, find anyone that you can! An aunt, uncle, cousin, or YOU can come to support your child! :)

Please remember that SCHOLASTIC book orders are due Friday. There are TONS of great books that would be perfect for a birthday or even Christmas gift! :) Also, there are many options ONLINE that are not in the catalogs that were sent home! CHECK THEM OUT! :)

S-P-I-R-I-T = SPIRIT WEEK!

Good TUESDAY morning!!
Before I get into Spirit Week FUN, I wanted to post a few pictures of some 1A/B friends and my pups at the 5K Saturday!

Yesterday was a great start to our Spirit Week! The kids came in their college gear!
Check out 1A in their gear and singing "Party in the USA" during our craft time!

Today, the kids came decked out in their heritage colors/shirts!
Can you tell what I am?

The Irish are well represented in 1A!

Here are the non-Irish! :)

To continue learning nouns, we watched the School House Rock NOUNS video! Check it out!
The kids also enjoyed THE NOUN SONG!

I can't wait to see everyone in BEACH/TROPICAL VACATION ATTIRE tomorrow!

 Crocs are acceptable.
Please DO NOT wear bathing suits or flip flops! :)

Rudolph :)

The kids asked to see a picture of Russell in his "costume!" Here he is! :)
Mrs. Claus is taking the photo!

I'm back! :)

Hello again! It has been way to long. I have been out sick with a fever that never wanted to go away. But...I am here today and doing the best that I can! I definitely missed the little guys & they quickly made me smile!

This week was a little bit more hectic than we anticipated so I am going to move the spelling and reading test to Monday to give the kids a little more review!

Also, next week is Spirit Week. Here is the schedule so hopefully you have plenty of time to get something together. I have to start hunting down my outfits too! I hope everyone will participate!
