Class Clowns

WOW! 1A has been very busy since starting back in 2012. I can't believe the 2nd quarter wrapped up last week. The 2nd half of the year is going to be FULL of new material so please be sure to provide lots of home support (reading daily and reviewing material). Exposure to literature on a daily basis is a HUGE way to expand word knowledge and improve fluency/comprehension!

Take a look at some of the fun we have been having in 1A:

Mrs. M stopped by to "clown" around with 1A!

Just a bunch of class clowns! :)

"If You Take a Mouse to Holy Redeemer"
Stop by and check out your child's stories!

Mrs. G recreated the book cover (originally done by Felicia Bond)

Activities about MLK

We are currently working on our PENGUIN unit!
We are learning the different things penguins CAN, HAVE, or ARE!
This will help each child create their own penguin book!

Just a reminder...book reports & reading log responses are due Tuesday, January 31st! :)
HAPPY READING!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that 2012 is off to a great start!

Here are some pictures from our first week in 2012!

The kids are working on a word sort race, trying to create the most long A words they can!
They had so much fun watching the online stopwatch count down!

We want to thank Mrs. D for making today SO MUCH FUN! She came in to read The Legend of Old Befana by Tomie dePaola with the 1st grade! She dressed the part, read the story, & handed out a yummy treat! I think 1st grade is going to make this a tradition!!
